Features of Zebra Lionfish

Tank Mate Compatibility for Zebra Lionfish

Zebra Lionfish should be housed with fish too large to be swallowed and not overly aggressive. Suitable tank mates include:
• Larger angelfish
• Tangs and surgeonfish
• Triggerfish (non-aggressive species)
• Groupers and other robust marine fish

Avoid small fish, ornamental shrimp, and crustaceans, as they will likely be viewed as food.

Diet for Zebra Lionfish

Zebra Lionfish are carnivorous predators that feed on small fish and crustaceans in the wild. In the aquarium, they should be offered a varied diet of thawed frozen foods such as silversides, prawns, squid, and marine fish flesh. Many can be trained to accept frozen foods using feeding tongs. Feed 2–3 times per week, offering appropriately sized portions.
